Dr Fred Wilson
Qualified in Sydney and has owned and worked at the practice for 26 years. Fred is a very friendly and gregarious person, with a witty sense of humour. As a testament to him, his staff have been with him for over 25 years, all faithfully looking after the best interests of their patients as a team. Fred has been married for many years and has 3 grown up children and 2 young grand kids. His love of golf is unsurpassed and he plays regularly every week.
Dr Ashraf Obaid
Dr Ashraf Obaid is a recent addition to the team at North Rocks Family Dental, replacing a colleague of Fred's who left to pursue postgraduate studies. Ash qualified in Sheffield in the UK in 1999, following which he obtained his Master's Degree in 2005, which is where his special interest in dentures stems from. Ash has an interest in Sleep Medicine in Dentistry, which is why screening children and adults for sleep apnoea is done as a matter of routine. Ash is married with 2 young children and is a keen cyclist, runner and sportsperson in general.
Dr Arlene Yang
Dr. Arlene Yang is our newest team member, having graduated from James Cook University, Cairns. She has previous work experience in both the public and private sector in Cairns, Hobart and Townsville prior to pursuing her career in Sydney.
Arlene enjoys all aspect of dentistry for both adults and children and is in the middle of a long term orthodontic residency course She enjoys providing gentle and comfortable dental cares for her patients. She attends courses regularly to stay up to date with dentistry. She is also fluent in Mandarin as well as English.
Outside of work, she enjoys travelling and spending quality time with friends.
Sonia Waagan
Sonia Waagan had been working at this practice when Fred bought it in 1989 as a nurse/receptionist. She is friendly, helpful and is always on hand to make patients feel very welcome and comfortable, having developed long standing relationships with all patients at the chairside, most of whom have been coming to the practice for many years.
Diane Freeth
Diane Freeth has been working with Fred since before he bought the practice, and she came along with him to work in North Rocks in 1989. She is friendly, welcoming and the helpful voice you will usually talk to when ringing the practice for any assistance or an appointment.
Shaida Taghizadeh-Burkli
Shaida Taghizadeh-Burkli is a new member of our clinic. She began her dental career in 1998 as a dental technician in Epping, and after further education, graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Oral Health in 2003.
She has worked as an oral health therapist in dental practices across Australia and Switzerland, bringing a wealth of experience to her patients.
As an Oral Health Therapist, Shai provides patients with routine dental check-ups and cleans for adults and children, gum disease treatment, and Zoom in-chair teeth whitening. She has a caring, gentle, and relaxed chairside manner.
Outside the clinic, Shai enjoys a variety of activities, including table tennis, swimming, painting, and spending quality time with her family. She is multilingual, speaking English, Persian, Turkish, German, and basic French.
